Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

Time to take a tour of our new shiny castle...and with a rad arrangement of Frog's Theme from Chrono Trigger to fit the mood.

First order of business is to head to the meeting hall. From Daniel's room, exit north and follow the hallway into the next room a floor below. Take the eastern doorway next, then head north a bit before going west to take the doorway here. Keep moving along until you reach a four way intersection, then follow the carpet north into the meeting hall.

Ayara & Col are in the meeting hall as well as a familiar face, Carson. He's here on the chancellor's wishes to provide administration of party management. His new room will be at the front of the castle just east of the save point. Convenient for sure!

When asked if there's any new developments from the capital, Carson says there isn't, but he does have a letter for Daniel from the governor of Highland. He wishes to meet with Daniel. For what reason is a mystery, but since Daniel doesn't have any urgent business to deal with, he's going to take up the offer. The governor is in the Highland capital of Bergstadt and we'll get there soon enough.

Before the cutscene ends, Carson gives you a chance to select your party members. Ayara's forced into the party, but you can pick the rest of your team. This includes Carson who's a new party member.

Carson's not half bad with a decent strength score and solid speed, accuracy, dexterity, and skill. Pretty bad physical defense though so he's best suited in one of your middle slots in your party lineup.

While I do take Carson here, it's just to get all of his gear because he's getting replaced very quickly once Daniel heads towards the save point. That's when a man in black robes approaches and asks if Daniel is the one. I don't think Daniel can dodge bullets there sir if that's what you're asking.

What this man is asking is if Daniel knows anything about his alleged condition. Daniel's got no clue what he's talking about, but the man's following comment implies that he sensed whatever happened with the exchange between Daniel & Brunhild. What better way to investigate this further than to invite oneself into the party!

This man is known as Yan Angwa and, as he so claims, is a very capable mage. His stats are comparable to Ljusalf's, but he's got two key differences. One is his hp which is actually not half bad for a mage. More prominent though is his magic defense which is far and away the highest of any party member to date.

Best part of all though? He's another shadow innate character. If having one mage with a turn 1 Shadowcast available wasn't good enough, now there's two. Capital!

Exploring the castle, there's a couple current points of interest. First is the inn located near Daniel's room. Instead of going east from it towards the meeting hall, head west to reach it. It's run by Royston who provides the service for free.

The other point of interest lies by the staircase going down that's north of the save point. This leads to the basement where Francesca's chilling as well as two ways to go. Heading east leads to the docks where Sally is if you need her boat services. I take a quick detour over to Blackwater to let Meiko know of the events that transpired during the war battle at Grunthill.

If you head west of Francesca, nothing seems worthwhile...until you reach a lone chest in a room. If you try to open it, it'll tell you that it requires the strength of 75 men to open.

When you're all done exploring the castle, exit and head to the Western Pass to the west of Matrech and cross through it to reach the Highland area which you can explore freely if you so desire.

There are a couple new enemies in the Highland region, but I only ran into the Minotaur. Somewhat fast and decent physical damage, but isn't going to last enough to be a concern to my frontliners.

While I could explore Highland and find two other towns to explore, I'm going to advance the story for the time being and round up all the exploration I can do after the upcoming story scenes. Bergstadt is located southwest of the Western Pass.

In the Highland capital, Daniel & Ayara are about to go look for the governor's office when a soldier walks up to him and offers to show Daniel the way...just him though, not Ayara. This comes back to haunt him when he's lead to a couple other soldiers and, while his back is turned, gets knocked out with a classic judo chop to the back of his head.

More next time!
