Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

Bit of a lull there with the lovely event known as real life, but let's get back to the war shall we?

Did some off screen grinding in the mining cavern at Grunthall so my main offensive party has completely tuned up weapons courtesy of Bergstadt's blacksmith.

At the meeting hall, all it takes is confirming to Bast that you're ready to begin the mission to Blackwater to rescue Shiro and Daniel's team takes off in Sally's boat...who then surprise a bunch of soldiers at Blackwater when they attempt to inspect Sally's boat.

I suppose the soldiers are new, but the combined Shadowcasts of Midian, Yan Angwa, and Daniel wipe out all of them minus the slightly more bulky Sergeants.

Once the initial soldier group is dealt with, there's a few more groups of soldiers in town to deal with. Clean them up, then enter the house just to the east of the inn to find a rather sneakily hidden exit in the northwest part of the house that heads down into a vault made for some damn fool mad king.

In the first room, Daniel attempts to solve a puzzle, but only succeeds in some random enemies known as Sentinels waking up to attack.

The mad king's vault has no random encounters, just fixed ones. Only one other enemy shows up here, the mimic-esque Relic. The main attraction though are the puzzles.

For the first room, Daniel did have the right idea that the switches are linked to opening the way forward. He just hit the wrong ones so hit every switch you see one time to open the door.

The second room involves pushing some boxes around so you can reach the next door you see to your east. Takes a few tries on my end to figure out the solution, but luckily you'll find out pretty fast if you messed up.

The third room has more boxes, but this time you're stepping on top of them. Doing so makes any boxes adjacent to the one you stepped on raise if they're in the water and any boxes above water level taking a dive into the drink. The door to the next room is locked, but it can be opened via a switch on the southern end of the room.

The fourth and final room requires a bit of thinking. There's a pedestal in the middle of the room that requires a four digit code in order to unlock. The hints for the code lie on a pair of scrolls, one each on the west & east side of the room. Both are guarded by some enemies.

The eastern scroll states that you need to remember the most important year in history. The western scroll mentions that the vault's initial opening took place in the year 1289 to celebrate the king's 35th birthday.

With this information, the solution is when the mad king was born. Punch in the code 1254 and the door onwards unlocks.

In the next room, there's a rather overconfident captain who thinks he picked a good place to wait it out with some of his soldier buddies and keep Shiro from being rescued. Not the best of strategies obviously.

Despite this battle getting the regular battle theme, the captain has an hp total more befitting a boss. He's got Column Strike which can hit your back row mages and Lightning to only slightly damage your physical brutes.

His buddies? The same low level weak soldiers that get deleted in a trio of Shadowcasts. Take them out, then beat up the captain while healing as needed. He drops a Leather Belt after the fight.

After the battle, Shiro's rescued, but a whole horde of soldiers show up right outside the docks. Ayara stays behind to slow down the reinforcements while everyone else escapes on Sally's boat.

Back at Mayfall, the news about Shiro's rescue by the Elysium Army has reached Keyser & Bruce. Bruce questions why Keyser didn't bring Shiro to Mayfall since it would be much harder to break him out from there.

Keyser? Well, he didn't think they'd try the rescue mission. The cracks are slowly starting to show in his plans, exactly as Bast predicted.

Back at the castle, make your way towards the meeting hall to find...Ayara. She's all safe and sound which seems a little unreal, but as a flashback proves, the 1 versus 14 turned into a 2 versus 8 thanks to none other than the ninja that attempted to take Daniel's life not too long ago.

As it's revealed in the present and the flashback, this ninja realized he's been going after the wrong person on his quest for revenge. He even thinks Daniel's now not the kind of guy that would pull off something like the murder spree at Kelsinger Pass. As such, Daniel lets him join the army and the ninja introduces himself as Rorschach.

Next time, Keyser's plans continue to go awry.
