Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

With the previous dungeon completed, we can return to Erin in Matrech to see if she's got any big ticket jobs for us. Before that though, we're going to enlist Sally's help and check out that lead about a mage Erin mentioned in a previous video.

Despite Sally's mediocre combat capabilities, her true calling card is to be a transport, letting the party sail to a variety of areas. Only three areas are available to us right now. One lets you return to the previous dungeon (Treasure Island) while another brings you to an area just to the north of Matrech.

The last one though is where Daniel's heading, Midian's Island. On the island is a hut with a very curious doll-like figure in the corner. You'll need to move a crate in the room next to the bookcase with a chest on it, then hop on it and push the chest on to the now active and totally not doll-like figure.

After the rather sudden awakening, Daniel puts in enough convincing through his own desires that Midian wants to see where his fate takes him and joins the party.

So if you thought Ljusalf was a good mage, Midian comes in as an even better magic user with a magic stat that's insanely good. He's even got a speed stat that's roughly around the rest of my main frontline right now.

His weaknesses are the obvious mage issues, namely low physical defense and, more notably, the lowest hp of anyone in the army. His sheer magical might more than makes up for this though. Expect to see him in my frontlines for a very long time to come.

Oh yes, Midian is a shadow innate character. Toss him a Stone Amulet and he's going to be able to open up battles with Shadowcast.

Finally, that chest used to wake him up? It has a Pointed Hat inside. Same stats as the Feathered Cap (2 pdf, 1 weight), but this hat tacks on an additional 2 magic to that. This goes immediately on Midian.

With this matter settled, it's time to return to Matrech and head to Erin's office. Turns out she and the chancellor have something to discuss with Daniel and want him to return tomorrow morning. Simple enough, just need to head to the inn.

During the inn stay, Daniel mentions that Kirgard's unlikely to launch an attack so soon. Given how much time it took to control Helman Island, they need to reorganize their troops so as not to give a huge advantage to the State Army. There's also the possibility that this lull in their attack strategy is planned, trying to give off the notion that they're waiting for a chance to strike when the time's right.

As for the reason why Daniel & Bruce seem to be heated rivals? Turns out it likely stems from a time long ago when the Almenga Empire tried to invade their land. Their lieutenant in the regiment both were in got badly wounded and had to leave the frontlines. Someone from their unit had to replace him and both attempted to get that position.

Unfortunately, both attempted shenanigans to make the other look bad and failed the promotion check. Both knew they were at fault, but Bruce never seem to forgive Daniel for that. Classy guy!

The next day, Daniel returns to Erin's office to see her and Ryan having a minor argument. Whatever it is they wanted to discuss with Daniel, it's something Erin's not exactly keen on. After Daniel walks into the office, that plan is revealed by Ryan.

As it turns out, he wants Daniel to be able to operate more independently from the captain and wants him to investigate an old abandoned castle to the north to see if it's possible for Daniel's army to inhabit it. Now I can see why Erin's a little apprehensive to the idea. Seeing a fresh recruit from Kirgard come in and quickly getting his own potential castle for his army? Seems a little suspect for sure.

Regardless, we need to head north to that castle. The doors to the front of said castle are locked, but luckily the keys are in the town next to the castle, Credence.

Not much to see in Credence besides a few npcs with portraits. Two of them are in the inn and named (Teej & Tiffany) while the third is a priest who's clearly on a holy crusade to purge evil as he quickly leaves town.

The team needs to locate the church on the eastern side of town and enter it. The priest at the table in the far northern side of the room mentions that holy crusading priest just took the keys to the castle. Unfortunate, but at the same time if he's going to that castle, it works out all the same for us.

The video concludes with the governors of Zelmony in a meeting. Turns out some of them really want to get rid of Daniel as quickly as possible. Classy!

More next time!
