Last time, we started our descent into the Lunar Subterrane that leads to the Moon's core. We got the Murasame and Ragnarok weapons, as well as the Artemis Arrows for Rosa. This last one was a nice surprise, as she was arguably the strongest against some of the monsters we encountered down there. I hope you really took your time and found everything before proceeding, because there's really not much left to do before our final showdown with Zemus!

I hope you've enjoyed this playthrough. I did all the side quests and I avoided doing any off-screen grinding. Everything you saw was everything I saw and played. And now without further ado, the final chapter awaits...

CHAPTER 21 - FINAL BATTLE & ENDING

Ok, so when we left off, we just beat Dark Bahamut and backtracked to the save point. You'll want to head back to B6, the room with the two parallel ladders near the doorway with two treasures on the side. This time, we'll take the right-side ladder down. When you reach B7, you'll see three door side-by-side. The first has a save point, the second and third contain optional boss fights. The first one you'll face is 'Plague'. This monster is very similar to the 'Ahriman' one-eyed demon monster you've encountered here. It will cast Doom on your entire party, but don't freak out. Even using normal attacks, you should be able to easily kill it before your counters reach anywhere close to zero. If you need extra insurance, have Kain jump to avoid Doom. But I doubt you'll need it. You'll be rewarded with the Holy Lance, for Kain.

In the following room, you'll see two treasures. As you approach, the fight will eventually automatically trigger. This time you face two 'Lunasaur's, which are very similar to the dragon skeleton monsters you've face in this area. Cecil's Ragnarok is very strong against undead enemies. Rosa and Rydia should both have Artemis arrows by this point, which will also be very effective. Both Lunasaurs will be defeated in just a few turns and you'll receive two Ribbons. These can be equipped on any party member, but I gave them to Rosa and Rydia since their defense is lower than the rest.

One floor down, you'll face the last optional boss, Ogopogo, a monster that's very similar to Leviathan. He's not that tough, but he will do a move called 'Tidal Wave' twice in a row, which may do some serious damage. So you'll want to shore up your HP afterwards. Ogopogo will do mainly physical attacks afterwards, which don't deal much damage. I could've used some Thunder-based magic but it wasn't really worth it. When Ogopogo is defeated, you receive the 'Masamune', a second sword for Edge, which is the last thing you need before the final battle.

From here, just continue to progress through the rest of this area. After upgrading everyone's weapons and armor, your party shouldn't have too much of a tough time getting through the rest of this. Unfortunately, there are some 'Behemoth's, but you can just escape from those if you like. The boss is waiting for you on B12...

What's gonna happen?? Enjoy the ending!
