Last time, we sailed across the ocean to the town of Crescent Lake. After talking to a group of twelve weird old guys standing in the middle of the woods, they gave us a canoe! Now we can cross rivers with ease. We made our way to Mt. Gulg, where the second Fiend of Chaos, Marilith, has been roused from slumber by us killing the Lich. It was a long dungeon and walked on a lot of hot lava. But in the end, my party was able to slay the second Fiend of Chaos and restore the Fire Crystal to grace. What's gonna happen next?

CHAPTER 7 - CAVERN OF ICE

From fire to ice, eh? Makes sense. This is another part where no one bothers to give us any clues on what to do or where to go. Not even the Sages in Crescent Lake that are depending on me to restore the crystals. Anyway, we head back to our ship and sail north, along the eastern coast. Sliding in a narrow opening, we'll find another port and river close by. So we'll use our canoe and see where it leads... the Cavern of Ice!

This dungeon has a similar gimmick to Mt. Gulg. But instead of lava, there's ice spikes that hurt if you walk on them. This place is definitely not as big as Mt. Gulg, but there's A LOT of money to be found in the form of treasure. There's new towns to head to beforehand, so we don't have any new gear or spells to buy first. It'll be nice to pad my wallet a bit with all this Gil. There's also a Fire Sword and Ice armor to be found here too. There are a couple of tough monsters that can use strong magic here, but otherwise, it's not much of a challenge.

To get to our goal, we fall through a hole from above. There's only three floors, but some of them are split in two, so this place may seem larger. If you do this correctly, you'll land in an area you couldn't access earlier to get the main treasure of the dungeon: the Levistone. Before that though, you'll have to fight the "boss" of the dungeon, 'Evil Eye'. I'm told this boss will cast some strong magic if you don't kill it fast enough. However, I killed him in the first attack! It has ridiculously low HP. Grab the Levistone and then retrace part of the dungeon to leave.

What to do with this Levistone, you ask? Well, it's certainly not obvious, but you'll need to head back to Crescent Lake. To the south of town, you'll see another river you can canoe through. You'll head south some more until you see a desert area almost completely surrounded by mountains. As you try to enter, you'll automatically trigger a scene where you use the Levistone. What's gonna happen? An airship came out the desert! The airship is a staple of the FF games and we just found the original fly boy.
