Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster dropped this week on November 10th. It took me a few days, but I finally got myself a copy. This entry is definitely a step up, visually, from Final Fantasy IV. I'm still doing my playthrough of Final Fantasy I, but I wanted to take a break and check this one out.

Final Fantasy V is an interesting entry in the series. We didn't officially get it in North America until the PS1, but there were plenty of fan-translated roms for SNES emulators to give us a taste of Final Fantasy V. I remember playing one that Bartz named Buttz, hehe. This game has a more involved job system than FF4. This is going to require some research before I go haphazardly into the fray.

THE STORY:

The King of Tycoon has sensed a disturbance in the wind. When the crystals that balance the powers of the world are threatened, the king hastens to the rescue...only to go missing. Somewhere a young man and his Chocobo find themselves drawn toward friends that will change their destiny.

IN THIS CHAPTER:

We'll watch the extended startup scene before springing into the game's intro. We'll meet Lenna, Bartz, Galuf, and Paris. We'll even get a ship, go through a cave or two and fight the first boss at the Wind Shrine. We'll get a detailed explanation about the game's job system before calling it a day. This part of the game is pretty straightforward, since no one has a job yet. So you don't need to worry too much.

Wing Raptor, the boss, is not challenging at all. It has a strong special attack that can do some good damage, but you should be strong enough to beat it in about three turns. You can equip Galuf with the Broadsword you find.
