About this video: This video is our comprehensive guide to starting a Minecraft server in 1.16.1 on PC. We truly do go over everything, and you are sure to leave this video with a Minecraft Java Edition server in 1.16.1 setup and running. We even show you how to play Minecraft Java Edition with your friends on PC as we go over port forwarding and allow your friends to join the server. Lastly, I go over the different issues you could have creating a Minecraft server in order to ensure that no matter what you can get your server up and running. Thus, without any more delay, here is how to make a Minecraft server on PC in 1.16.1!

To get started making a Minecraft server, you need to download the Minecraft server files from Minecraft’s website. You can find the link in the description above for the ‘Server Download’. Click that, and it will actually take you to our full-text tutorial for creating a Minecraft server. That is helpful if we go too fast in this video for you. Once you are here, click the green ‘Download Minecraft’ button. That will take you to Mojang/Minecraft’s official website. Here, click the green link that says ‘minecraft_server.1.16.1.jar’. That will start the download of the Minecraft Java Edition server files for 1.16.1!

Once you have the Minecraft server files downloaded, create a new folder on your desktop called ‘Minecraft Server’. Drag the server file you downloaded into this folder. Then, double click on it. Some files will then appear in your server folder. One of these files will be an ‘EULA.txt’ file. Open that file with notepad and change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’ assuming you agree with the Minecraft EULA.

After that, click the server file you downloaded again. A GUI console will now appear. At this point, you now know how to make a Minecraft server in 1.16.1 Java Edition. You can join your server using your local IP address, but you cannot play with your friends. The reason for this is that you need to port forward in order to play Minecraft 1.16.1 with your friends on your server.

Not to worry though as I have helped millions of people port forward for their Minecraft servers. The first step is opening up the CMD, and typing ‘ipconfig’. Make note of the IPv4 address and default gateway. Next, take your default gateway and paste that into your browser’s search/address bar. This will take you to your router’s login screen. Login to your router and look for ‘port forwarding’. Once you find it, forward port 25565 on the UDP and TCP protocols. You and your friends can join off of that public IP!

Congratulations! You now know how to make a Minecraft server on PC 1.16.1. If you have any questions about creating a Minecraft 1.16.1 server, be sure to let us know in the comment section below.
