Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary Game (Intro Caves world) (Android & iOS)
In this video: "Intro Caves" world walkthrough (1-20 lvl).
Things have never been smooth when you dig hard. It will be a rocky adventure to become a master of new challenges here in Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary. The task in this game is really simple; you need to control the character named Rockford and locate the exit of each cave. But it will be a hard task because you need to collect the gems first. Once the gems are collected, the exit will open up. Avoid getting crushed by the boulders or attacked by the creatures. Locate the hidden treasure chests as well so you can unlock new characters.

If you're a certain age (read: an old geezer, like yours truly), then you've probably played or at least heard about Boulder Dash. Whether you played it on a brand spanking-new Atari, Commodore 64, NES, or perhaps your TI graphing calculator, you'll know just how addictive and fun the game can be. And in this game, we've got a brand new version of the game for you, with spiffy 3D graphics, new-school style, and all sorts of other goodies. Welcome to Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary!
The very name of Boulder Dash evokes feelings of nostalgia and sentimentality in a lot of people who look back to the "good old days" of gaming when graphics were rarely a consideration and the focus of a game was on gameplay. It didn't matter back then if your game was a bunch of stick figures or even ASCII characters, so long as it played well. Now that we're 30 years down the road though, Boulder Dash gets the spiffy graphics that match the similarly spiffy gameplay it possesses.
As aforementioned, the game is in 3D. This isn't some lame 3D done in half-measures though, it's some really pretty stuff that looks downright awesome. You've got a whole lot of detail just about everywhere you go, from the terrain that you hollow out, to the eponymous boulders that can crush you, to the sparkly gems you're trying to grab. There are also the sprites for the baddies and for your player character, both of which animate rather nicely. Everywhere you look, there's more and more detail to be had.
The sounds are also updated, we could hardly expect to be hearing chip-tunes in a 30th anniversary game, now could we? It's got some fairly low-key background music that works well to set the mood and ambiance of the game. It's soft, gentle, and also rather relaxing. It can rather help especially when you start to get a bit frustrated with certain levels, which you most definitely will sooner or later. There are also various sound effects; you've got your digging sounds, boulder fall sounds, gem pick-up sounds, and everything else you'd expect.
This wouldn't be a good 30th anniversary edition if it didn't keep the feel of the older game, so it's a good thing that it does indeed keep the same feel while still providing enough of a new-school feel to it to not be a simple rehash with better graphics. If you've ever played the original Boulder Dash, then you'll be right at home here. There are, however, a few newer things here and there, such as shifting the view around, the swiping controls (of course), and a few other additions here and there. None of these additions seem out of place though, and everything that's there feels like a natural addition rather than something square pegged into a round hole.
And that's that for this article, get in touch with your old-school gamer by grabbing yourself a copy of Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary!
