Lowest-levelled unit that isn't Olivia: Vaike (9.17)
Highest-levelled unit that isn't Chrom: Tharja (10.66)

Cherche's first map. Unlike most Awakening runs, she actually matters here with Panne and the pegasus girls not reaching the usual levels of performance, to say nothing of Veteran Dark Flier Robin. This is also the first time Tharja and Gregor are deployed since their respective join maps.

Our previous lineup of fliers and cavs is warming the bench to make room for foot units and sword users of all sorts. Appropriate, as there's nowhere to rush and no treasure thieves to catch. The latter are a good way to ensure the doubling for some units, though anyone facing armour knights generally doesn't need much help, and doubling cavs is less accessible without tonics.

There are no reinforcements in this map, but the enemies approaching aggressively introduces a bigger enemy density problem than there has ever been in this challenge run. We used to methodically feed kills to everyone catching up in level earlier, but here you kinda have to solo portions of the map, or hold chokepoints with your strongest units, to allow the units capable of no more than one hit to make it to the subsequent turn alive.

Chrom, who has recently married Robin as a storyline event, is a major player with promoted unit stats, and so is Cherche. Donnel's bulk shouldn't be overestimated just yet, even with Kellam support, and Tharja can survive quite well when she uses Nosferatu to regain lost health. Her low luck makes her an appealing target for the AI. Reaching support level with Gregor seems like a good way of ensuring she isn't critblicked in the future. Gregor makes a good support partner for her seeing how she appreciates all of the skill, speed and defence boosts that his pairup offers.

The enemies are mostly cavs, rushing our army from all sides turn after turn. The knights can be killed with some team effort, and Cherche, who has taken Vaike as her support partner, can usually 2HKO them with a steel axe. There are a couple bow knights who pose a threat to Cherche, but they're generally not very hard to intercept.

I decide to take Donnel all the way to lv. 15 in this map. He learns the Underdog skill for +15 hit/avo when facing foes above him in level and reclasses to Fighter for very high gains in HP, strength and defence. According to the unit selection rules I came up with, this gives makes him the equivalent of a lv. 15 unit despite being a lv. 1 Fighter, so we won't be seeing him for some time. When he does get back, I expect a neat dodgetank looking into getting to D axes as early as possible.

I choose not to promote anyone during this chapter. Perhaps one of the swordies needs to go - it's either Gregor or Lon'qu. The former seems like a good candidate considering him being a jack of all trades, master of none, with Lon'qu's growth heavily favouring skill and speed growth and being about as good at providing these bonuses to others as Chrom at his level, approaching Aether access towards the end of the chapter.
