The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion | Too Much Competition
#nocommentary #elderscrolls #oblivion
I was approached by a man named Claude. He invited me for a drink and I accepted his invitation. He tells me that he too was employed by Umbacano to find the statues as well as the panel I'm now looking for. It is a bit odd to have more than one person taking on a job but perhaps this may encourage cooperation. Claude was willing to tell me the location of where the panel may be but I still went to the First Edition.
Upon purchasing the book and looking through its contents I went home to rest and meditate. It was evening now but it's still good to set out and find this priceless Ayleid thing before anyone else. Once more I could feel my strength coming back to me so I stopped at a place called Arrowshaft Cavern. In these caves, there were plenty of Imps and while they aren't too much of a threat I am somewhat annoyed at their consistent presence throughout this cave.
I'm trying to fix my lingering weakness in magic. While I can protect myself with armor I am always frail to magic. Magical items will be the ones that will save me from this issue I have. Being able to reflect some magic and having a magic ring that casts a shield over me will be a boon. I soon arrived at Malada and saw two people camping nearby. I tried to press them for information regarding the ruins but it seems they have not been in there yet. I had to move quickly lest they change their minds and beat me to the treasure.
I navigated through the ruins and found the door that Umbacano mentioned. He gave me a key earlier so I used it to open the locked door and proceeded on. While avoiding traps I soon came across a blue panel as described in the drawing that Umbacano gave me and I had completed my quest. Well almost completed it. I need to deliver the panel and fight my way through the ghosts that now infest the way out. Thank the Nine I was able to master one destruction spell.
I was approached by Claude the moment I stepped out of the ruins. He threatened me to hand over the panel so that he may deliver it to Umbacano and get the reward. That bastard! I refused and he sent his goons to pry the panel off my corpse. Sadly for them, I'll not meet my end today, but they will. As I delivered the final blow to the last of Claude's men, I took a note off their corpse and saw that this was a planned attack. That man wanted easy money.
Kindness is a rarity. A trait not found in too many people. Many of them are ready to take advantage of that trait and abuse it for their own gain. I am a fool to think there could ever be a friendship. I must worry for myself and myself alone. I hurried back to the Imperial City but realized there was no need. Claude already failed in his attempt to make easy money. So I rested and went the next morning to give Umbacano his panel.
I asked him of his intentions of sending Claude after me but he explained that he has no control over what anyone does as long as he gets what he wants. Noted. He now wants an Ayleid helm that some woman owns. I'll try to convince her to part ways with it. Herminia was not willing to part ways with the helm but she tells me that there is an alternative. I could find a similar helm that would satisfy Umbacano. I decided to think about it...
