The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion | Battle For Kvatch

I walked to the encampment where all the survivors talked about what had happened. Friends and loved ones were still missing or otherwise confirmed dead. People who had lost everything were sitting with their faces buried in their hands as they wondered what they would do from now on. Others were trying to make the situation better but seemingly a whole city was lost. I walked past the group and made my way up.
The smell of smoke and cooked flesh made my stomach turn. I couldn't hear anything anymore. the sounds of my heartbeat getting faster and faster, praying to the Nine Divines that this was some sick dream. I made it to where the guards were and as I looked over to the left, I saw it. The gate of Oblivion was open, with Deadra coming out one by one. The guards fought back but these were stronger than any bear or bandit. These creatures could hit hard and light you ablaze with their spells.
I helped as much as I could before being approached by the captain. He has sent men inside the gate to see if there was a way to close it. Without thinking I volunteered to go in. I braced myself for whatever nightmares lay within this gate. As I stepped in I was greeted with a red landscape that most people would call hell. Lava ran everywhere and there was a constant storm with a gentle hot breeze that would scratch at your throat as you begged for water. I saw someone fighting off scamps and I rushed to help.
This was the last survivor of the group that went in to close the gate. His comrades had perished between the two doors on the bridge and he had been fighting ever since. I told him to go back and assist his captain as I would take over this operation but truth be told I don't have a clue on how to close the gate. I figured the best thing to do would be to go to the largest tower and figure things out from there.
I fought my way through these hellish battles. Scamps and Clannfear that were runts littered the place but they were still formidable. I feared that this would be my end if I had not been trained well enough. I couldn't let that happen, I had to see the damage inside Kvatch, I had to see if my mother was still alive. Inside the largest tower, I found these fountains both blue and red. They sped up the regeneration of my magic and health. I was told by someone who was taken as a prisoner that the only way to close the gate is to find a thing called the Sigil stone and remove it.
After fighting my way to the top I think I found the stone and took it. What happened next I could not explain. The tower seemed to collapse but I came out just fine? The captain saw this and asked me to go with him in reclaiming Kvatch. I went with him through the gates and saw the state of this once-beautiful city. Burning buildings, walls collapsed, and monsters crawling around. It would seem that some people took refuge in the chapel so we went to see if that was still the case.
There were some survivors. We got them to leave the chapel and head to the encampment. The captain wanted to see if the count was still alive and I went with him to charge the castle. I didn't have too much faith that the count was still alive by this point but we couldn't give up on hope completely. Inside the castle, I encountered Fire Atronachs. Things are starting to look really bad since stronger Daedra keeps appearing. The captain was going to stay back and fight off any more Daedra that would come in and I was to find the count and bring him to the captain. Unfortunately, the count had passed away. I searched on his body and took with me a signet ring to bring back to the captain.
The captain took the ring and we cleared out any more Daedra that was inside the castle. He tells me that Kvatch had fallen before and that it could be rebuilt. I left him and wandered around to see if I could find my old home. Everything was dark and smokey. I had no choice but to assume that everything was lost and that a lot of the people I knew were no longer alive. I asked around the survivors if they recalled a sickly woman but they told me that such a person had long since passed away.
They say the news of her son's passing was the final nail in the coffin.
