Transcript:
What If Dark Reign. Clint breaks in to assassinate the power-mad Norman Osborn, and this time, uses an arrow powerful enough to pierce Norman's force field, killing him. He's seen but manages to escape, and HAMMER declares him public enemy number one. The Avengers soon hear of Clint's act and scramble to find him, while the news reports on the importance of superhero registration and even threaten to reveal secret identities to the public. Barbara finds Clint hiding in Central Park and confronts him about his actions, reluctantly agreeing with him and giving him a fake identity to escape with, but he's tracked down by Bucky and Peter. Meanwhile, an extremist news reporter plants explosives in a hotel where he heard Clint was staying, threatening to blow it up if he doesn't give himself up. Clint arrives and tries to talk the reporter down, but ends up shot. And in the aftermath, HAMMER declares they'll keep everyone safe from masked vigilantes. This is ok, just short and predictable. I feel like we've seen very similar stories to this even in this retrospective. The artwork's very nice, I like the blue and yellow tinting, but the panels are oversized and don't allow for much story or even action. It's ok for a cursory read, but you'll forget you read it in a week. Also, are these sound captions indicative of the helicopters, or what's going on inside the hotel rooms?
