What If Spider-Man Grim Hunt? At the end of this event, Peter ignores Madame Web's warnings and kills Kraven the Hunter, before going after the rest of the Kravinoff family. Peter returns home and vows to give up being Spider-Man to be with Mary Jane. However, news spreads fast about the massacre, and when MJ confronts him about it, he instead gives up on being Peter and leaves. Later, Peter is living on the streets, when MJ tracks him down and begs him to come back. Peter does, but only after a news broadcast reveals he's killed Norman Osborn. He tries to argue he did it to keep them safe, but MJ tells him he should never have become Spider-Man, thus Peter abandons that life as well and instead takes up Kraven's mantle as a hunter. Years later, the new Madame Web leads an assault on the now villainous Peter, but he stabs her, and, with the last of her power, she brings Anya into the fight, forcing her to become Spider-Girl to combat Peter. Peter nearly shoots her, but she turns the gun around and blasts Peter's eyes, blinding him. Peter begs her to end him, but she instead brings him back to New York, where he lives blind and alone while Anya becomes the city's spider hero. This was pretty good, another alternate end to an event I haven't followed, so I'm unfamiliar with things like how he lost his spider sense or why antelope are running free around New York. I wish we could have seen more of him being a hunter, as it just jumpcuts to that part of his life and being defeated. And what exactly did taking him back to New York accomplish? Also not much of a fan of the sketchy muted artwork. The story's not bad, it's just not one of the greats most What If Spider-Man stories are. Though cute appearance by Goofy, indicating Marvel's then recent acquisition by Disney.
