Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

It's been ten years since that fateful day in the cave. Ryu & Bow have both grown up and are making a living taking odd jobs.

Today's job? Finding a lost pet named Suzy for Mina. Bow didn't want to take it at first, but once he saw that the client (Mina) was a girl, he rejects that statement immediately. Bow suggests asking around for some clues.

Before leaving the room, swipe the Revive from the northeast cabinet. Also up for grabs is a Herb in the 2nd floor of the inn at the cabinet where all the winged folk are.

Asking a bit around town and you'll find out about a town on the other side of Mt. Fubi. Perhaps we should go there to inquire about Suzy.

Of course, the duo needs equipment and supplies to make that trek. If you want, you can sell that Revive and use the money to pick up some basic defensive equipment. You will need to grind outside town though one way or another.

With that...a little introduction to our two fighters.

Ryu is basically "sword into a target's head" and nothing else right now. He does the job good though with high offensive stats and no real weak stats except for ap, but he doesn't have anything right now to take advantage of that stat. His unique skill is Guts which heals him for an amount based on how damaged he is and how high his guts stat is in his stats window.

Bow's main purpose is going to be that of a healer with some support magic on the side, but he also an able bodied attacker, just not quite as physically gifted as Ryu. His unique skill is Shot, a move that will either do little damage to a target or kill it in a single blow. Useful if you run into very high defense targets, but otherwise he should just stick to normal attacks.

Outside of town, the enemies should not be a huge problem. Leeches can hit hard, but that'll even itself out with a couple level ups.

Speaking of level ups, both guys pick up some spells from their early levels. Ryu gets TimeWarp at lv2. This costs nothing to use and will make it switch between daytime and nighttime on the world map.

For Bow, he picks up Heal at lv2 and Purify at lv3. Heal costs 3 ap and heals a target for 40 hp while Purify costs 2 ap and cures a target of zombie & poison.

Now, for making money...occasionally after battle, you may see a bush on the screen. Examining it takes you to a field where you may see wildlife. With Bow as your lead character (switch with the L or R buttons if needed), he can shoot the wildlife and procure some Roast upon slaying something. This Roast sells for 200 zenny each. Shouldn't be too hard to suit up the boys with the best the weapon & armor shop has.

If you need to save, the dragon statue just outside the weapon & armor shop will do just that for you.

Will do some off screen grinding to get enough zenny for what I need, then it's off to find Suzy.
