Breath of Fresh Fire #6 - Colisseum Battling
1Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

Back in Coursair, pick up some Revives from the item shop. Two or three should be good. Then deposit the rest of your money into storage. There's a reason for this.
Rest at the inn, then head to the pub. If it's daytime, talk to the bartender to make it night, then talk to the burly man from before. He recognizes Ryu as Baba because of the ax and says he was expecting a fight between a weird guy & pretty girl. Head to the colisseum in the north after your preparations are complete.
In the colisseum, take the door on the right and talk with the girl at the counter. She says you have a final interview with someone called the Dir. HR through the center door. Take it, then talk to the guy to be tossed into a fight.
Dir. HR hits for about 20+ damage a hit and is faster than Ryu most likely, but that's all he has going for him. So long as Ryu uses a Potion when he falls to 40 or so hp, he'll be fine here.
After the battle, exit the room and go into the one next door to meet the manager, Augus. He apparently has some kind of script all set up where Baba basically kills the girl. What he really means is that a poisoned needle is going to be shot at this girl. He's going to offer a huge payment which you can collect from a chest in the door to the left of the colisseum entrance.
Before you open that chest though, talk to the guard next to it, then talk to the burly man from before, Rand, who appears in the room. After telling him what will go down, Rand says to give him all your money so he can buy a couple antidotes. This is why all of our money was deposited earlier.
Once this happens, he tries to give an antidote to the girl, but gets denied quite forcefully by the girl. Looks like this has to be done the hard way.
When you regain control, take the 1000 zenny from the chest, then proceed to your match against that girl, Katt.
Katt has two moves. She can taunt Ryu/Baba, greatly debuffing his attack for that turn. She can also attack. If she doesn't get a critical, the damage isn't bad. If she does though, it can do around 30 damage. Not too tough of a fight overall though.
After the battle, push Katt up into the doorway once the needles fly. Doing so saves her hide.
At the inn, Katt apologizes for refusing to believe you, then decides to go kick Augus's tail and joins the party.
Katt is a speedy high attack power unit. Of course, this means her defense isn't quite good and she has almost no ap for spell casting. Her unique skill is Dare, a move that will make all enemies attack her. She has a good counter attack rate so this could be useful.
Head to the Armory and upgrade Katt's equipment, then go meet with Augus. Apparently this was all for some god...perhaps the one that demon talked about to a young Ryu?
Augus also turns into a two headed demon and attacks. Thankfully Rand also lends a hand in helping with this boss.
Augus is actually quite a nasty opponent. He gets two actions per turn which can be used on physicals (20-25 damage) or to use a turn to charge up, then launch one extra powerful physical. This can easily do 60-90 damage. Katt is likely one shotted unless the damage variance is low. Use Revives if needed to resurrect people and use Potions to stay at full health. If everyone survives to the end, the experience should be enough to push Katt & Rand up a level.
After more spouting about this "god" that Augus is talking about, he dies. Our heroes talk amongst themselves and Rand wants to offer his help to touch up Niro's place. Katt too even.
We'll need to go there now. To make this quick, you can use Rand's field ability which makes him go into Armored Armadillo mode and roll around the map. If you hit something, you'll potentially get into a battle.
Anyways, as the trio approaches Ruins, Katt hits level 8 from a battle and picks up her first spell, Slow. Debuffs an enemy's speed. Works for me!
At Ruins, Rand stays to help with repairs. Bow thinks it's going to end badly if Katt helps too and suggests taking her along to find the female thief.
Save up outside of the building. We'll hopefully get an actual lead on this thief next time!
