Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Time to get a ride to the next continent. You can do this in Capitan by taking the exit in the northwest part of town.

Once you arrive on the new continent, feel free to save at the dragon statue or change your party, a new feature that these statues can provide, then proceed out to the world map and the nearby forest.

Inside it, proceed until you reach an army of frogs. One will talk to you...a giant freaking one that appears from the pond. He introduces himself as Jean and says he has had a curse placed on him by the witch in the aptly named Witch's Tower. He would like you to go get the witch to remove said curse. Got nothing better to do I guess.

To reach Witch's Tower. you need to exit the forest to the south, then continue south on the world map until you get to a lake, then follow its northern edge to the west until you find another path going north, then take it and go northeast when you can to reach the tower.

Of course, enemies!

Stamens have a bunch of hp and do decent damage (30+). Not much else really.

Pollens can charge up for a turn, then launch a physical the next turn for...the same amount of damage more or less as a Stamen. So threatening (Rand also doesn't give a damn because he's starting to get tanky now).

S. Idols have quite decent defenses and hp. Physical isn't too nasty, but Cold Breath is, dealing 40-60 damage to the entire team. It is possible to see two S. Idols in a single battle so take caution if that happens because two of these back to back means a very dead party or close to it.

During this trip, Rand hits lv11 and picks up the Protect spell. Now he can buff his defense to even higher levels!

Inside Witch's Tower, the first tile you step on is interesting. The witch's voice says she's not interested in anyone from your party...unless your name is Ryu. If you step on the raised tile with him in the lead, then you can pass after fighting a few battles.

Speaking of battles...

H-Flies (Which are also found outside in the area) are jokes, but they can poison people.

Monopeds have a fairly high critical rate, but if you've been keeping up to date with armor upgrades, then the worst it'll do is around 30-35 damage if it goes critical, maybe more like 50+ on lower defense targets. Can drop Power Pots after battle which boost attack power in battle. Approval!

M. Mummies are quite frail, easily dying to a critical hit from Katt if she pulls it off. Rather fast though with the ability to cast a couple single target spells for quite decent damage (35+).

Ogres can cast Heal for "I don't give a damn!" amounts of healing and can counter attack. Not much else from them.

Once you break into the inner area of the first floor, you can examine the chest for nothing and your way back being sealed off, then you can talk to the guy here. He says the witch is twisted and evil and all that jazz, then gets petrified by said witch for his insolence.

Take the western exit out of this room to find a dead end with a Panacea (Cures all status afflictions) from the chest, then return back to the main foyer and go east.

The path east is quite linear until you reach a room with five moving platforms. From left to right, if you take the 5th platform for a spin, you'll end up at the western exit of this room. This leads to a statue of a girl, but if you look closely, she looks a bit like Sana. We'll need to return here later after finishing business in this tower.

Back to the moving platforms...platforms 2, 3, and 4 lead to a treasure room on the lower level. Platform 4 lets you do this via a set of stairs while the other two require you to fall down after the ride ends.

In this room are several chests with zenny in them. As you grab them, pitfalls appear in the room. When you're done, you can take the platform up the stairs back if you took platform #4 or fall down to the main foyer area by a pit in the southern end of the treasure room otherwise.

Wrapping this place up next time!
