Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Story wise, we're supposed to go to SimaFort, the castle in the middle of that lake Jean mentioned last video. First though, going to take care of some sidequest stuff.

First off, we kinda need to populate our newly built Township. There are several choices for which tenant you can select for each house. I'm going with choices that will give me some good weapon, armor, and accessory shops to work with. Of course, Sten will be making this much simpler with his Warp spell so I can zip around everywhere.

First, to Hometown. The home next to where Ryu & Bow stayed has a man in the front of the house, Hekkeller, who's the first one I recruit. The man in the back of this house, Hanz, can also be recruited, but I need to get the first expansion to Township before that can happen.

Next, to Capitan. The guy I'm picking up here is Leminton, the old man in the 2nd floor of the inn.

Next stop, Windia. The girl at the Armory, Baretta, is whom I'm after here. If there's one important person to recruit, this girl is it, trust me.

Now, with those three recruited, head back to Township and talk to your carpenter who should be in the house next to your hangout & granny's new fangled fusion chambers. You'll see the minigame the carpenter I chose get explained (And how the wonderful "Yes" and "No" options were swapped for explanations if I might add), but more importantly...he requires 1000 zenny to start an expansion to the town. Do so, then exit & enter town a total of 8 times (Of which I cut out to save you all some time).

With the town confirmed to have been expanded, I go grab the last two tenants I want which are Hanz (Hometown, in the same building as Hekkeller was, but in the back) and Daiye (Windia's Inn, 2nd floor).

Now it's time to go check out what our lovely tenants are selling in Township. I warp back there, but I swap out Katt & Sten for Nina and recently acquired party member Jean.

First...

Jean's stats seem weak at first, much like how most of Rand's stats were when he could be first used for good. As he levels, his stats make him into a more paladin-esque class with acceptable strength, the 2nd highest stamina of any party member that can join (And with the ability to equip heavy armor as well I might add), and the highest luck score of anyone around. His only truly bad stats are agility and wisdom.

Jean's unique skill is Jab, a move that can hit all enemies on screen, but loses some power for each additional enemy on screen beyond the first. If Jab is used when only one enemy is on screen, then it is treated as a normal attack.

Back to Township...time to suit up everyone with some shiny new equipment. Hekkeller & Leminton sell some pretty nice equipment, but is rather expensive. Hekkeller's is notable because his weapons are fire elemental.

Baretta's equipment...sucks? It does, but she has a catch...she's the only Township tenant who will upgrade her stock as the game progresses past certain key story points.

Daiye, if you visit him, sells various fish related items.

Hanz sells some rather nice accessories like Talismans (blocks curses), D. Earrings (blocks sleep), Defense Bracelets (+10 defense. Hey Nina, how would like two of these and not have to worry about your terrible defense right now?), and the power boosting PwrPot item.

After making your purchases, visit granny's soul fusion house. If you want, you can fuse Sana to someone. I fused her with Rand for now, giving him a power boost, but I need to grab one other shaman to really bring out her potential for someone. The Defusion in the nearby chest will do just that, break a fusion on a character.

Next, back towards the direction of SimaFort. Outside of the forest where Jean was picked up, I have the frog prince himself utilize his field ability...turning back into the giant frog form! You get to move 2 spaces per press of the directional button and can swim in lakes too. If you do the latter, you won't get into random battles.

Now, you want to head towards Witch's Tower, but instead of entering, hop into the lake nearby and go into the waterfall for a secret to be revealed next time.
