Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

Well, guess we can check out Jean's home, SimaFort, at last. Just warp to the docks, then put Jean in the lead, transform into the giant frog, and go northeast to reach it.

Inside, everyone is rather...shocked to see Jean. More so when he's taken away by soldiers and someone else steps forward claiming to be Prince Jean. A boat's been prepared for your trio and he asks you to leave. Nothing to do right now so say yes and try to leave.

Outside, apparently some princess, Petape, feels like today is ruin boats with a boulder day. Before she can explain herself, guards are approaching so, to keep the trio safe, she body checks them all into the water. Cue in two guards who basically confirm that the "Jean" that just asked us to leave is fake. After they leave, your trio decides to sink into the water (And yet Rand, likely the heaviest one of the trio, lasts the longest before sinking, heh).

After regaining your senses in bed, Petape has but one request...to detain the impostor. She gives you some Gills to get around the fort easier and tells you to use them to reach the underground dungeon. She also mentions a boat you can use to get back to the docks outside of the fort if desired.

Back outside is just what I do. Before that, check the cabinet in this room for a Deluxe Rod, then head back out to where the small boat was destroyed and take the stairs down into the water, then head on over to the boat and return to the docks to rearrange your party.

After warping back to Township so I could ONCE AGAIN fuse Nina into an angelic maiden of sorts, I get back to the fort to get to that underground dungeon.

To get there from the boat, just go down the stairs into the water and keep going north through any rooms. You'll be in the right room if you see a familiar...female thief...with cockroaches. I think a certain friend of Ryu's is going to be very happy once this impostor business is dealt with...

Anyways, the stairs in the back going down lead into the dungeon. Cue some kind of guard who comes over and says you can't see the real Jean unless you kill said guard.

Well, if you insist chief. The Jailer isn't much to write home about. Yeah his attacks can hurt (But Rand & Nina don't give a damn about them physicals right now, heh), but he'll fall within two or three turns, tops.

As the team & Petape talk to Jean, an idea springs up...the royal ring. That would prove he's the real prince. He says he left it with Nimufu.

...Wait, why? I'm with Petape on this one Jean.

Anyways, you need to get out of the fort. Luckily, you do not have to traverse Witch's Tower again. If you do go there though, the first floor tile will tell you she's gone to the Wildcat Restaurant. You don't need to see this to trigger her appearing there as you can head there directly.

In the restaurant, you'll see a ton of witches. Most say different things with one even fighting you when you talk to her, but Nimufu herself is in the bathroom. Talk to her and she says the ring is down the toilet.

...What a toilet this is. It's a cave for god's sake! In any case, just go west when you go down the toilet, try to take the ring, then go north and wait for it to arrive there.

After climbing back up, you even hear Nimufu of all people say there's no way anyone would give something like that to her. Either Jean is an idiot, Nimufu is playing us all for fools, or it's another ploy by the impostor.

Anyways, take the ring back to the real Jean. Everyone goes to the throne room to show the ring off to the fake Jean. His retort? Show the...royal...ring.

Well this sucks.

Apparently the topic switches to food which sparks another idea from Petape...cooking contest! Jean always made the best pudding.

But what happens if Jean doesn't win? Executions for everyone...our party included!

...So fake Jean, see my man Rand here? His fists are going to say otherwise. Just a thought.

Anyways, everyone is whisked away to the kitchen. Looks like Jean needs three ingredients...some kind of cockroach, a worm, and a gold fly.

Only in SimaFort folks! We'll start the hunt for those food items next time.
