Breath of Fresh Fire is a mod by ludmeister for the GBA version of Breath of Fire 2. This mod changes a number of things such as rebalanced characters, expanded shaman fusing options, rebalanced spells, and so on. The difficulty is lightly boosted as well.

The latest version of the mod can always be found here: http://jeffludwig.com/bof2/download.php

As always, do your own search for the ROM you need.

Time to chase down where everyone ran off to. Back to the kitchen, but now we want to take the one door next to the stairs going up. Examine the switch on the side and it goes down to the basement, but lets you go east. This leads to the real Jean who's knocked out.

Behind door #3? A knocked out Petape and fake Jean! He says there's some kind of strong power here, Petape was going to blow it all up, and now he wants the secret and wishes to kill you.

Do I hear a boss fight to FINALLY kill this dingbat? I think I do! He does the world's quickest transformation into a boss between transitions to boot.

Kuwadora actually poses a threat here. His normal attacks hit for at least 50 damage with him sometimes saying something before the attack which makes it do double that. Supposedly he can hit everyone too with an attack, but I never saw it. Probably for the best considering he's faster than my entire party.

Oh yeah, he can also cast Death to potentially insta kill a party member. Fantastic!

If you're looking for an element to spam here, use ice. He's weak to it. Ryu's Ice Dragon move will do at least 300+ damage a use. If you can keep people feeding him Ethers to keep his ap up, this fight will end quickly...unless Kuwadora pulls a trick from the "Ivan of Fallen Star" book of masters that is and denies someone experience on the turn the boss dies.

At least Ryu hits lv18 and picks up Restore I guess.

Afterwards, Kuwadora decides to activate the earthquake control. We're all doomed, whee!

Not so says Jean who barges in. Turns out the earthquake control was really a ruse to keep out burglars. It's actually meant to protect a legendary sword. Clever one Jean, clever.

After Jean & Petape leave, go swipe the legendary sword known as Soul. Despite it saying it's torn and unusable, it's actually got nice attack power and a boost to wisdom.

Back in the throne room, people are talking. Petape says you can have anything you want as thanks for saving the kingdom....and yes, that includes the female thief with the cockroaches.

Jean decides to rejoin the party as well and you get a chance to rearrange your party. If you want, you can add him, but it won't be needed for the next area we're going to have to go to.

Anyways, head back down to the dungeons to pick up the female thief. You can now take her to Trout in Hometown and Bow's name will be cleared. Yay!

Also of note is the stairs to the east. Previously, there was a guard blocking your way to them. Not so now though. It leads to three chests containing Breath Armor, Iron Shield, and a Royal Helmet. Not a bad haul.

As you leave SimaFort, the fact you just completed a major quest is now reflected in a change of the world map theme. It's now the first world map theme from the first BoF game. Nice touch.

Next time, Ryu gets his friend back.
